北ヨーロッパ学会2020年研究大会総会は下記の声明を発することを決定いたしました。
日本学術会議会員任命拒否に対する北ヨーロッパ学会声明
今般、日本学術会議が推薦した第25期会員のうち６名を内閣総理大臣が任命を拒否したことは、学術の自立的な発展を阻害する行為であり、当学会は強く抗議する。これに対する日本学術会議の対応を支持する。当学会は、日本学術会議の独立性を維持し、学問の自由を守るために、他の学術団体および国民と連携を図っていく。

総会では、同時に、人文社会系学協会連合連絡会の共同声明に発出主体として参加することも決定いたしました。

Statement by the Japan Association for Northern European Studies in response to the refusal to appoint certain members of the Science Council of Japan
The refusal of the Prime Minister to appoint six of the 25th term candidates recommended by the Science Council of Japan means impeding the independent development of academia, and our Association strongly protests such behavior. We support the action of the Science Council of Japan. Our Association will cooperate with other academic organizations and the nation to maintain the independence of the Science Council of Japan and to protect academic freedom.
